Companies that provide a platform for other people to work on are becoming the biggest companies. One can think of Uber, Airbnb, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Snapchat, Youtube, Twitch etc. These are platform companies whereby people (the user or developer) contribute to the business. For example, software engineers that develop an app for the iPhone uses Apple as a platform to “deploy their creativity”. Another example would be Facebook, they provide a platform for people to share the events in their lives with the people they care about.
