“You have to always be leaning into the future. If you are leaning away from the future, the future is going to win every time, never ever ever lean away from the future.” meaning

Quote:

“You have to always be leaning into the future. If you are leaning away from the future, the future is going to win every time, never ever ever lean away from the future.”

Author/ Who said it:

Jeff Bezos, CEO and founder of Amazon.com

When:

Vanity Fair’s New Establishment List.

Meaning/What does it mean:

Companies/people should always lean towards the future as companies/people who do not will become irrelevant. Companies like Kodak have gone out of business because they refused to lean towards the future. So Jeff Bezos is saying that one should always lean towards the future. In many ways, his quote is very relevant to all of us because by not leaning towards the future, we ourselves become irrelevant. So that means learning new skills, technology, etc to stay relevant.
